Warren court issues warrant for arrest of man behind Amber Alert

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — Warren Municipal Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of a 22-year-old man who took his 7-month-old son from the baby’s mother Saturday afternoon, prompting the Warren Police Department to issue an Amber Alert.

An Amber Alert involves information being broadcast on local television stations about missing or abducted children.

The mother, of Niles, recovered the child later Saturday unhurt, after the suspect contacted her and told her where to find him, police said.

The mother, 19, was staying with a friend on Berkshire Drive Southeast when the man arrived at the apartment to visit another woman, the mother said. The mother has a protection order, preventing the man from contacting her or the child, police said.

The man put the boy into his car and left with him and a friend, police said.

The man contacted the baby’s mother after seeing the Amber Alert, and the mother was able to pick up the boy at a house on Second Street Southwest.
