Resident foils burglary

YOUNGSTOWN — A city woman’s warning that she may be armed was enough to scare off a burglar she confronted in the kitchen of her South Side home.

According to police, the 35-year-old Rogers Road woman heard her front door bell ring Saturday afternoon but was too busy to answer the door. Soon after hearing the bell, the woman heard noises coming from her kitchen and saw the shadow of a figure in the house.

The woman walked into her kitchen and saw a man wearing blue jeans and a dark hoodie standing in the kitchen. She told police she simply yelled “gun” and the man jumped head first out of a kitchen window and ran to a champagne- colored van driven by another man sitting in front of the house.
