Mahoning Co. home sales rise

Home sales were a mixed bag in the Mahoning Valley last month.

Sales were up significantly in Mahoning County in October, down in Columbiana County and about the same in Trumbull County, according to figures released by the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors.

In Mahoning County, 200 home-sale closings were recorded last month, compared with 164 in the same month of 2008.

The average sale price last month was $97,818, compared with $83,849 in October 2008. The average number of days needed to sell a home last month was 101, down from 106.

In Trumbull County, 135 home sales closed in October, compared with 136 in the same month last year.

The average sale price last month was $75,244, compared with $84,126 in October 2008. The average number of days needed to sell a home last month was 90, down from 110.

In Columbiana County, 51 homes were sold last month, compared with 67 in October 2008.

The average sales price last month was $81,207, compared with $87,828 in October 2008. The average number of days needed to sell a home last month was 109, down from 145.
