UAW Local 1112 leader confident of new labor deal

LIBERTY — A union leader was confident this afternoon that union members at General Motors’ Lordstown complex were voting in favor of a new labor deal by a wide margin.

Jim Graham, president of United Auto Workers Local 1112, said the mood inside the informational meetings at the Metroplex Hotel was upbeat despite the concessions in the offer. Workers seemed willing to pass the agreement in the hopes of keeping GM operating, Graham said.

All of the workers interviewed outside of the meeting said they were for the agreement, which is being voted on this week by UAW locals across the country.

Voting locally ends at 6 p.m. today.
