LOWELLVILLE — At Bedford Trails last week, aces were high.

Over a five-day stretch last week, six different golfers in six different leagues made holes-in-one at the golf course — by far the highest number on record.

“How about that, huh?” said owner/operator Andrew Grischow, who has been with the course for 10 years. “I’ve never heard of such a thing.

“If we get one a month, we’re pretty lucky.”

John Gordulic Jr. started the run on Tuesday night in the Teenies Golf League, acing the No. 18 hole. Two more — Rich Cantanzriti (Jednota League, hole No. 6) and Jeanne Gaume (WWW league, No. 12) — found the cup on Thursday. Wendel Wagnon (Friday Couple’s League, No. 6) and Nick Marzano (Gerry’s Kids League, No. 12) made ace on Friday.

David Collinsworth finished it off on Saturday morning, acing the No. 12 hole as part of the Lowellville Gridiron Outing.

“We were excited when we got four,” said Grischow, whose family has owned the course for 20 years. “When we got to six, it was a really interesting turn of events.

“We didn’t start telling everyone until that Saturday.”

Outside of luck and coincidence, Grischow couldn’t come up with any reason for the explosion.

“If anything, the course was playing tougher last week,” he said. “The tees were all in the normal position. In the winter time, we’ll move the tees up, but we’re back to regular distance.”

Plus, the course’s two easiest par-3s are Nos. 8 and 12 — and no one aced No. 8. But two people aced No. 6.

“That’s one of the toughest holes we have,” he said.

Grischow hasn’t decided how to commemorate the milestone, but said the family plans to talk about how to celebrate.

“All these years, we’ve never had anything like this happen,” he said. “It’s pretty insane.”
