WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded more than $8 million in grants to assist laid-off auto workers in Ohio.

The grants were announced Tuesday. They will help nearly 2,500 workers laid off at the General Motors truck plant in Moraine near Dayton, the Chrysler north assembly plant in Toledo, the GM Lordstown plant near Youngstown and 12 suppliers in Ohio.

The money will be used for counseling, job searches and follow-up services.
