Pa. parts dealer sues Ford over trademark slogan

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania auto parts dealer says Ford Motor Co. is wrongly using the slogan “We Speak Car,” which the local business says it has been using for nearly six years.

Frank’s Auto Supply Inc., of Uniontown, says in its federal lawsuit that it filed for a trademark on the phrase on Thursday, and has used it in advertising since June 2003. Also, the company’s Web site is www.wespeakcar.com.

Ford has not immediately responded to an e-mail requesting comment Monday.

Frank’s Auto filed the lawsuit on Friday saying Ford has used the catch phrase in recent ads for its Ford Fusion models.

Frank’s Auto wants a federal judge to order Ford to stop using the slogan and seeks unspecified damages.
