Cleveland brothers sentenced in neighbor’s killing

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

CLEVELAND (AP) — Two Cleveland brothers have been sentenced to prison in the fatal beating of a neighbor with an aluminum baseball bat over a suspected break-in at their home.

One brother, 27-year-old Alex Wulff, was sentenced to 20 years to life on Monday on his guilty plea to murder, evidence tampering and abuse of a corpse.

His brother, 20-year-old Aaron Wulff, was sentenced to eight years for attempted murder.

The victim, 25-year-old John Maruschak, was killed last summer. His body was burned in Ashtabula County and the remains were stuffed in garbage bags.

The prosecutor says the brothers suspected the victim of breaking into their home, but that was never proven.
