1080 Media winner in ‘B’ finale


STRUTHERS — Evan Campbell had three hits while Brad Byers, and Joe Aulizia had two each, as 1080 Media defeated Astro Falcons, 10-0, in the final night of the Class B regular season Monday at Cene Park.

1080 Media finished with a 23-4 record to finish as the No. 1 seed for the playoffs and a first-round bye.

Astro (18-9) is the third seed and will play OTN Performance in the first-round best-of-3 series starting today.

Paul Indihovic added a triple and a double while Chris Zadroski tossed a three-hit shutout for the win.

Trent Vallinger had two hits for Astro.

OTN Performance 9, Roth Brothers 3

STRUTHERS — Mike Tomko had three hits and added two RBIs, while Jay Rowland had two hits and Collin Bowser drove in three runs for OTN (15-12). Robert Franks went 41‚Ñ3 innings for the win with eight strikeouts and no runs allowed. Roth finished 10-17.

Dave Sugar Excavating 7, Wharmby Sports 5

STRUTHERS — Marlo Cleckley drove home two runs and picked up the save for Dave Sugar (15-12), the fifth seed. Jim Behnke tossed the first five innings for the win. Tony Koch, and Dom DeFelice had two hits each for Wharmby Sports (18-9), the fourth seed, which will play Dave Sugar in the playoffs starting today.

Tri-State Collegiate League

BEREA — Eric Pirtz had three singles, while Joe Iacobucci, Brian Szabo and Chester Kirkwood each had two singles for Youngstown Metros in a 6-5 loss to the Ohio Orioles in the first game of a doubleheader. Armani Johnson doubled and scored.

Bob Suitca homered for the Orioles, which led 6-0 after four innings.

In the second game, Johnson homered, doubled and scored for Metros, while Eric Pirtz had two singles and scored a run in a 7-6 loss.

Suitca singled, homered and scored twice for the Orioles.
