Girl Scouts honored for achievements
MACEDONIA — Girl Scouts of North East Ohio presented Gold Awards to 77 Girl Scouts at an achievement celebration June 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn Twinsburg. This was the first time so many young women earned the award in a single year.
The Gold Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout can earn. It recognizes that girls, 14 to 18 years of age, with real leadership skills, can have a significant impact on their communities.
East service area recipients of the award were as follows: Victoria Acierno of Thompson; Ashley Balsbaugh of East Liverpool, Amanda Brockway, Tina Decker and Ashley Mathews, all of Southington; Megan Day and Kristina Moff, both of Berlin Center; Elizabeth Elston, Catherine Latell, Courtney Leeworthy, and Alexis Williams, all of Warren; Sarah Motz of West Farmington; Andrea Reihard and Alysia Witherow, both of Leavittsburg; Ellie Sanders of North Jackson; Leannon Struchen and Megan Todd, both of Conneaut; Angela Thomas and Sarah Young, both of Canfield; Kory Brady of Cortland; and Amy Yeater of Niles.
Tari S. Rivera, president of Regency Construction of Lakewood, served as the keynote speaker.
