Little League and Babe Ruth teams advance in play

Saturday the Poland 10-year old baseball team will play in the state tournament in Cambridge.

Poland defeated Boardman East 14-0 to win the district title and earn the state berth.

Members of the Poland team are David Watson, Joey Lawman, Brendan Glosser, Dylan Kurcon, Tony Chiaro, Alex Wollet, William Aey, Mike Maillis, Nick Petrolla, Pad O’Shaughnessy and Daniel Klase.

Eric Glosser manages the team and Dave Kurcon is the coach.

Also, the Howland 9-10 softball team will open play in the state at Conneaut on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Playing for Howland will be Natalie Chambers, Sydney Dicenso, Maxine Fife, Caroline Henneman, Hannah Kowach, Reann Litz, Mackenzie Maze, Haley Mink, Taija Pate, Leah Pollifrone, Sara Price, Ariel Takat and Gracie Wargo.

The manager is Michael Pollifrone.

Canfield 11-12

The Canfield 11-12 baseball team was defeated by Avon, 2-1, to be eliminated from the state tournament in Tallmadge.

Job Yeaton pitched five innings for Canfield, allowing no earned runs. Yeaton and Nick Dastoli had base hits for Canfield.

Babe Ruth

The Youngstown Babe Ruth 13-year-old team will play in the Ohio Valley Regional starting Friday in Noblesville, Ind.

Youngstown will play Eastern Kentucky in its first game at noon.

Members of the team are Ryan Harris, Colton Crissman, Tyler Spain, Phil Di Ianni, Harrison Wagner, Denver Martin, Drew Beck, Kurt Kusmaul, Kyle Watson, Nick Mallis, Mike Kindinis, Zack Miller, Zach Kuchmaner, Emond Pilolli and Jake Pishotti. The coaches are Mike Spain, Larry Cicoretti, Tim Niles and Dean Cicoretti.

Youngstown’s 14-year-old Babe Ruth team also won the state tournament to advance to the regional in Robinson, Ill.

Members of the team are Michael Buchenic, Shawn Coyne, Drew Delsignore, Daniel Ferguson, Jacob Froats, Vic Kuchmaner, Christopher Maze, Michael Raschilla, Brandon Ritchie, Ian Simmons, Jake Stauffer, Ryan Strollo, A.J. Thomas and Robert Vargo.

Terry Landis is the manager, while Anthony Raschilla and Bill Delsignore are the coaches.

The 14-year-old team went 4-0 at the state tournament and outscored its opponents 57-1.

CABA World Series

All of Tuesday’s schedule was postponed at the CABA World Series at Cene Park.

The schedule will resume today, weather permitting.

Rondinelli Tuxedo and Astro Falcons of the Youngstown Class B League are in the tournament.

Rondinelli is unbeaten through its first three games of pool play, while Astro Falcons are 2-1.
