Thunderbirds tickets

VIENNA — Several thousand more tickets will be available starting at 9 a.m. today for the Thunder Over the Valley air shows and open house at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station. The Aug. 8 and 9 shows features the Thunderbirds, the Air Force demonstration team.

The tickets, which are free, are available on two Web sites: youngstownairshow.com or thunderoverthevalley.com.

Science-center special

YOUNGSTOWN — The Children’s Center for Science and Technology is inviting area families to visit the center from 7 to 9 p.m. next Monday at a reduced rate of $10 per family.

The opportunity is being offered to accommodate families who attend Free Movie Monday at the downtown Covelli Centre. “Madagascar 2” is the movie, which will begin at sundown on the grounds of the Covelli Centre. The arena is just down the block from the children’s center, 139. E. Boardman St.

The center will conduct a “Madagascar” mask-making activity, and children will be able to take their masks to the movie.

Bike run for charity

BOARDMAN — Motorcycle enthusiasts and animal lovers are encouraged to participate in a charity bike run next month.

The fifth annual Noah’s Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary Run takes place at 10 a.m. Aug. 9 at Youngstown Cycle Supply, 6915 Market St.

Registration will last until noon and is $15 per rider and $10 per passenger. All proceeds will go toward the sanctuary in Berlin Center.

Riders will be treated to lunch, courtesy of the Rosetta Stone Cafe in Youngstown and Dr. Frank Petrakos. Live music also will be provided.

Noah’s Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary has saved the lives of more than 200 exotic animals, including lions, zebras, monkeys and wolves. The sanctuary is funded completely through donations and charitable contributions.

Academy information

YOUNGSTOWN — Stambaugh Charter Academy has scheduled informational meetings for parents at 10 a.m. Aug. 4 and 6 p.m. Aug. 6 at the school, 2420 Donald Ave.

Principal Kathleen Grinwis, teachers and staff members will answer questions, and tours will be available.

The school serves students in grades K-7.

Vienna celebration

VIENNA — The Vienna Township Neighborhood Watch will celebrate National Night Out at 6:30 p.m. Sunday with a free concert at the Bicentennial Gazebo, Warren Sharon Road.

Dominic DiTomasso will start off the evening by singing the national anthem followed by “Songs of Your Life” by the Jack Vasko Orchestra with guest artist Joe Fedorchak.

In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Cross Point Bible Fellowship (formerly the Vienna Baptist Church) on Youngstown-Kingsville Road, between the state Route 82 overpass and Yankee Kitchen.
