Fight between two women sparks near-riot

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Police in Harrisburg say they had to call for outside assistance after a fight between two women turned into a melee involving as many as 100 people.

Many officers were tied up at an unrelated incident elsewhere in Harrisburg when the fight broke out late Sunday. Police say the crowd grew and some people began throwing bottles at officers.

State police, capitol police, city park rangers and officers from nearby municipalities responded and dispersed the crowd.

No one was hurt.

Police say the people involved in the original fight will likely face charges. An investigation continues into the identity of those who threw bottles.
