Dunham returning to Youngstown

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

staff report

Time magazine recently called Jeff Dunham “perhaps the most popular stand-up comedian in the U.S.,” and the numbers back up that statement.

The wildly popular comedian-ventriloquist will return to Youngstown on Oct. 8 for a show at Covelli Centre.

Dunham last visited Youngstown in March 2008. His sold-out show at Stambaugh Auditorium was part of a North American tour that grossed more than any comedy act that year.

Dunham’s rise isn’t slowing down, either. He will launch a weekly TV series in October and will publish his first book, “All By My Selves,” in November. He also will be developing and taping his fourth special for Comedy Central to debut in 2010 after posting the most-viewed show ever on the channel last year with “Jeff Dunham’s Very Special Christmas Special.”

Tickets for Dunham’s Covelli Centre show will go on sale July 31 at the box office, all Ticketmaster outlets including Giant Eagle and Macy’s, online at ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000. All tickets are $45.50. The show will start at 7:30 p.m.
