WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — James Johnson’s layup with 0.8 seconds remaining helped No. 6 Wake Forest upended No. 1 Duke 70-68 on Wednesday night.
Johnson finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds and freshman Al-Farouq Aminu had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Demon Deacons (17-1, 4-1 Atlantic Coast Conference).
They bounced back from last week’s home loss that knocked them from No. 1 by leading the Blue Devils for nearly the entire way — before letting a late 13-point lead slip away and recovering just in time to claim the fifth victory over a top-ranked team in school history.
Kyle Singler had 22 points and 12 rebounds for Duke (18-2, 5-1), which had its 10-game winning streak snapped.
Gerald Henderson added 20 points, and his jumper over Johnson with 10 seconds left tied it at 68, and capped the late 20-7 rally that got them back in the game.
No. 21 Villanova 67, No. 3 Pittsburgh 57
PHILADELPHIA — Reggie Redding had a career-high 18 points and seven rebounds to lead No. 21 Villanova to a win in the final college basketball game played in the Spectrum.
Dante Cunningham added 15 points for the Wildcats (16-4, 4-3 Big East), who beat a ranked team for the first time in five tries this season.
Sam Young had 14 points for the Panthers (18-2, 6-2), who had one field goal over the game’s final 5 minutes and were outrebounded 17-7 in the second half. Pittsburgh entered the game averaging 40.6 rebounds per game and it leads the conference with a plus-9.3 rebound margin.
No. 7 Louisville 80, South Florida 54
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Edgar Sosa scored 16 points, Samardo Samuels had 14 and Earl Clark added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Cardinals.
Terrence Williams had five points, 10 rebounds and six assists as Louisville (16-3, 7-0 Big East) won its eighth straight to keep pace with No. 8 Marquette atop the nation’s toughest conference.
Dominique Jones led the Bulls with 19 points and seven rebounds and Jesus Verdejo had 10 points, but South Florida (7-14, 2-6) simply couldn’t keep up in the second half as Louisville quickly broke open a close game.
Louisville’s 800th game at Freedom Hall looked an awful lot like most of the 799 that came before it. The Cardinals improved to 664-136 at the venerable gym with the victory.

Jonny Flynn led Syracuse (17-5, 5-4) with a career-high 35 points and Eric Devendorf had 27. The Orange lost their fourth in five games.
