Dinner party celebrates 50th for the Powells

BOARDMAN — The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Don Powell, 433 Tudor Lane, was celebrated during a dinner party on Jan. 24 at The Elm Tree in Struthers.

Invitations for the event were issued by the couple’s children and their spouses, Cindy and Pat Reedy of Austintown, Don and Tammie Powell of Boardman, Jim Powell of Youngstown, and Kate and Tim Rosati of Berlin Center. There are also nine grandchildren in the family.

The couple, who were married Jan. 24, 1959, at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, will renew their marriage vows during the 11 a.m. Mass on Feb. 8 at St. Luke Church, where they are members.

Mrs. Powell, the former Elaine Pompoco, was a registered nurse at Forum Health Northside and Southside medical centers prior to retiring in 1997. She is a member of the Retired Nurses Association.

Mr. Powell served with the U.S. Army as a medical laboratory technician and retired in 1998 from RMI in Niles, where he was a laboratory supervisor. He is a member of the U.S. Steel Golf League and Mahoning Country Club Senior Golf League.
