2009 trends What to look for

The 2009 trend-spotters did their homework and found out that the economy will dictate the home design and lifestyle trends for at least the year to come. If this seems about as surprising as “dog bites man,” well, check out these trends predicted by JWT marketing, and think about how they might apply to you:

We’ll be staying in and watching TV/DVDs, playing games and maybe even reading books this year. More than 72 percent of those surveyed said their budgets are keeping them at home more often.

We’re doing more fixing up and DIY projects, and more than half of us said we’re more likely to take on a renovation project ourselves this year than we were last year.

Along with that, we’re going to keep our old appliances and furniture longer than we’d hoped, finding ways to keep them working and fresh.

Households will be getting larger this year, as the masses huddle together under one roof.
