Sykes scores 19 for Chaney; Py. Valley rolls

YOUNGSTOWN — Marcinde North scored 12 points, including three 3-point goals, while Alyssa Sykes added 19, including six in the final quarter, to lead the Chaney High girls basketball team to a 58-52 victory on Thursday in a Steel Valley Conference game.

Shaquilla Lawson grabbed 15 rebounds for Chaney (5-6, 1-0 SVC), which outscored JFK in the final quarter, 17-12.

Paige Klaric scored 25 points to lead JFK (5-7, 0-1 SVC) while Marissa Nocera added 11.

Py. Valley 67, Mathews 37

ANDOVER — Constance Stech scored 22 points to lead Pymatuning Valley (12-0, 9-0 Northeastern Athletic Conference), which took a 20-9 lead after one quarter.

Rose Lane added 17 points for the Lakers.

Emily Roth scored nine points for the Mustangs (6-10, 3-7), while Julie Wise had eight points.
