East surges in last quarter to win

YOUNGSTOWN — With the score tied 35-35 at the end of the third quarter, East High outscored Vision Quest 21-13 in the fourth period to prevail, 56-48, in a game Saturday night.

Anthony Bowers, Jarelle Burt and Kenny Carter scored 16, 12 and 11 points respectively for East (3-6). Kyree Harrison led Vision Quest with 16 points.

Springfield 56, Girard 47

GIRARD — Todd Kibby and Jim Zubick each tossed in 15 points and Springfield jumped out quickly against Girard.

Pat Rhodes led all scorers for Girard with 25 points including four 3-point goals.

Warren JFK 45, South Range 39

WARREN — Nick Brown finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds to propel the Eagles (5-3).

Mike Fredricka added 11 points for JFK which trailed 11-3 entering the second quarter.

Kyle Seaver and Joe Mihlan each hit for 13 points for the Raiders (2-5).

Youngstown Christian 51, Lake Ridge Academy 34

YOUNGSTOWN — Caleb Yanno and Olonzo Johnson scored 11 points each to lead Youngstown Christian (11-1), which rallied from a 17-11 halftime deficit with a 40-17 scoring advantage in the second half.

Anthony Walker contributed nine rebounds and seven points for Youngstown Christian, while John Pecchia had four assists and five points.

Mathews 66, Bloomfield 59

VIENNA — Chris Morgan scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to people Mathews in a Northeastern Athletic Conference game.

Collin Bowser added 11 points to help Mathews (6-3, 5-2 NAC), which rallied from behind to secure the win with an 18-10 scoring advantage in the final quarter.

Kevin Hostetler had 19 points to lead Bloomfield (2-8, 2-7), while Aaron Knight had 16 points, Jordan Gunnoe 14, with four 3-point goals, and Matt Byler 10 points.
