Game notes: The Penguins have lost two straight after Thursday’s 69-50 loss at Milwaukee. YSU had a horrible shooting night, hitting just 27 percent from the field and 21 percent from 3-point range. Junior Sirlester Martin had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, but top scorer Kelvin Bright (15.3 average) was held to three points. Green Bay is coming off an impressive 80-65 win at home against Cleveland State. The Phoenix shot 53.8 percent from the field and made 10 of 19 shots from 3-point range. The Phoenix has won six of its last seven games and the only loss was a 62-60 defeat at Loyola. Series: The Penguins trail 17-5 although they won last year in Youngstown 76-73. Green Bay had won the three previous meetings and holds an 11-4 advantage over the Penguins since YSU joined the Horizon League. Up next: The Penguins return home Friday to open a four-game homestand, facing Cleveland State in a 9 p.m. tip-off that will be televised nationally over ESPNU. Cleveland State is coming off a 54-49 win over Milwaukee at home and has won four of its last six games. The Vikings also have a conference win at Valparaiso 68-55, while their league losses were at Butler and home to Green Bay. Series: The Cleveland State series is one of the oldest in YSU history. This is their 49th meeting. The Penguins hold a 30-18 advantage, although the Vikings won both meetings a year ago: 77-64 in Cleveland and 82-66 at YSU.
