SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR

WARREN — Home Savings Charitable Foundation donated $10,000 to help Beatitude House here create homes for homeless women with children.

This donation is part of a $30,000 pledge to help the organization with its expansion.

The facility, adjacent to the old St. Joseph Hospital on Tod Avenue Northwest, is expanding to create space for six additional homeless families.

“With the current economic conditions, the need for our programs is increasing,” Teresa Boyce, development director, said in a press release. “Being able to serve an additional six families a year will positively impact the Warren community and create lasting solution to poverty.”

The facility’s seven apartments are filled, and there is a long waiting list.

The success of the program is high, according to Beatitude House, as an estimated 90 percent of those that complete it never return to hopelessness.

An estimated $100,000 is needed to complete the project and open the apartments this summer. To donate funds to help complete the project, visit www.beatitudehouse.com or call (330) 744-3147.
