YOUNGSTOWN — Judge Mark A. Belinky of Mahoning County Probate Court has named Daniel A. De Salvo of Boardman to replace Atty. Carl A. Nunziato on the Mill Creek MetroParks board of commissioners.

Nunziato, of Boardman, has served on the park board for almost seven years. With his term expiring today, Nunziato declined reappointment to a new term.

De Salvo, who was appointed Wednesday to a three-year term, is a lifelong county resident. He is the leasing and development director of P. & S. Equities Inc., a real-estate company with substantial commercial and residential property holdings in Austintown and other areas.

De Salvo and the other two newly appointed commissioners, John M. Ragan, a Canfield businessman, and Dr. Robert J. Durick, a Struthers dentist, will be sworn in by Judge Belinky during a public ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mill Creek Park’s D.D. and Velma Davis Visitor Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens.

On Dec. 21, Judge Belinky appointed Ragan and Dr. Durick to new seats on the park board, which is expanding from three to five members. The commissioners continuing on the board are Jay Macejko, Youngstown city prosecutor, who has been on the board for one year, and Virginia Dailey of Boardman, who has been on the board since March 1998.

An Army veteran, De Salvo has a bachelor’s in business administration from Youngstown State University. He received his leasing certification from Syracuse University and his human resource consultant certification from Duke University.

In addition, De Salvo has experience in urban planning as a human-resource consultant and in community fundraising.

De Salvo has been involved in various professional, civic and charitable organizations, such as the American Society of Planning Officials, the Youngstown Community Health Board, the Salvation Army, the YMCA and the Youngstown Peace Race.
