Meadville, Pa. woman pleads guilty in the death of her infant son

MEADVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A northwestern Pennsylvania woman has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the death of her 4-month-old son in March.

Casey Ann Shay-Yoder admitted in Crawford County Court today that she had placed Aiden Brown face down on her bed and placed a pillow over him to muffle the boy’s cries. The 19-year-old West Mead woman previously had been previously with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and endangerment for the March 5 death.

Shay-Yoder’s lawyer, Wes Rowden, says he believes his client “was just overwhelmed” because she was trying to care for two infants and a toddler while still in her teens. He says he hopes to work with authorities to reunite her with her two surviving children. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 24.
