Men’s top 25 Sunday’s games

No. 11 Connecticut 93, Iona 74

HARTFORD, Conn. — Stanley Robinson had a season-high 29 points and Jerome Dyson added 17 as Connecticut beat Iona in the Huskies’ final tuneup before beginning its Big East schedule. Kemba Walker had 14 points and seven assists, and freshman Jamal Coombs-McDaniel chipped in with a career-high 13 points. UConn (9-2) opened up a 14-point lead at intermission after struggling in the first half against its last two non-conference opponents. Scott Machado had 14 for Iona (8-5), which had won four in a row, including an 82-73 victory at Providence. Rashon Dwight and Rashard McGill each added 12, and Jonathan Huffman had 10 for the Gaels. Robinson scored 19 in the second half, including an alley-oop dunk off a pass from Dyson with 3 minutes left that gave UConn its first 20-point lead of the game at 91-70.

No. 22 Washington 86, San Francisco 71

SEATTLE — Quincy Pondexter scored 22 points and Washington started slowly, briefly gave away a big lead, then cruised. Matthew Bryan-Amaning added 13 points and six rebounds for the Huskies (9-2), who were coming off a surreal victory over No. 19 Texas A&M on Tuesday night in which Aggies senior Derrick Roland broke his right leg. Pondexter and Washington coach Lorenzo Romar spent Wednesday visiting Roland in the hospital, where he had surgery to repair multiple fractures sustained in a grotesque, on-court fall.
