Tree drop-off hours scheduled


Christmas trees, wrapping paper and greeting cards may be recycled.

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County recycling division has announced 13 Christmas-tree recycling drop-off locations that will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Jan. 31.

All decorations must be removed from each tree before recycling. The city of Struthers provides free curbside pickup.

The drop-off locations are:

UAustintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.

UBerlin Township Building, U.S. Route 224, Berlin Center.

UCanfield Township Fire Station, 5007 Messerly Road.

UMilton Township, Mahoning Avenue across from Miller Marine.

UEllsworth Township Fire Station, state Route 45.

UGoshen Township Maintenance Garage, 12649 Seacrist Road.

UGreen Township Cemetery, state Route 165 and Beaver Creek Road.

UJackson Township Fire Station, 229 N. Salem-Warren Road.

ULowellville Street Department, 58 McGaffney Road.

UMahoning County South Side Annex, 2801 Market St. Boardman residents should take their trees to the annex.

UNew Middletown Fire Station, 10720 Struthers Road.

UPoland Township Road Department, 7508 Clingan Road.

USmith Township Building, 846 N. Johnson Road, Sebring.

The recycling division, also known as the Green Team, also is collecting wrapping paper and greeting cards in brown paper bags at all of its regular recycling drop-off sites until Jan. 15. No ribbons, bows or foil wrap will be accepted.

The Green Team also is collecting stringed Christmas lights for recycling. Beginning Monday and continuing through Jan. 15, bins for the lights will be placed at the Southside Annex on Market Street, and at the City Hall Annex, Front Street.

The bins will be available during regular business hours.
