CLUB CALENDAR | Local organizations plan meetings

CLUBS

• McDonald Parents of Performing Arts will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the senior citizens room at the post office building.

• Ohio Cultural Alliance will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown, for a catered dinner. The speaker will be Joel Beeghly, who will talk about the Beeghly family, businessmen and philanthropists in the Youngstown area. Music will be by pianist Nathan Stephens. The cost is $13 for paid-up members and $18 for others. Reservations can be mailed to OCA, P.O. Box 561, Canfield, OH 44406-0561 until Tuesday.

POLITICAL CLUBS

• Girard Men’s Democrat Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Lamancusa Hall.

• Newly elected councilmen of Struthers are having an installation with Struthers Federated Democratic Women as hostesses. The installation will take place at 6:30 Monday at Struthers City Hall. Friends and family are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

RELIGIOUS GROUPS

• Our Lady of Perpetual Help Altar and Rosary Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church to recite the rosary followed by a meeting.

• St. Rose Quilting Group will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the parish house.

SERVICE CLUBS

• Girard-Liberty Kiwanis will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Golf Dome, 1300 N. State St.

SINGLES

• D.A.R.E., a social group for divorced, widowed or separated people, has planned the following events: Monday, walking at Southern Park from the food court at 6 p.m.; Wednesday, walking at Southern Park Mall from the food court at 6 p.m.; Thursday, Plenty of Fish New Year’s dance at Lucianno’s. • Single for Any Reason has planned the following events: Monday, cornhole games at 6 p.m. at NAUS Club on Mahoning Ave., Warren; Tuesday, take snacks to share at holiday house party at 7 p.m.; Thursday, dance to Road Work Band at 9 p.m. at Lyndora American Legion, or welcome the new year at Melody Lane Ballroom, 2864 Newton Falls Road at 8 p.m. BYOB for buffet meal at midnight, cost $30. SUPPORT GROUPS

• Nar-Anon, a 12-step program for people who have been adversely affected by a loved one’s addiction to drugs, meets every Friday at 7 p.m. (6:45 for newcomers) at the Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic, 160 Clifton Drive N.E., Howland. For more information call (330) 307-8182.

• TOPS 1262, McDonald, meets Wednesdays in the senior citizens room at the post office building. Weigh-in is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., and the meeting will follow. New members are welcome.
