Judge’s ruling encourages Delphi Salaried Retirees

WARREN — The Delphi Salaried Retirees Association said it received encouraging news from a judge in an attempt to stop its members’ pensions from being cut.

The association said a federal judge ruled Tuesday that the federal Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. must file documents explaining why it had the right to terminate the Delphi Corp. pension plan and take over the payment of benefits. The judge said he will rule on the retirees’ request for an injunction shortly after the Jan. 8 filing deadline for motion.

The retirees have a federal lawsuit pending in Detroit that seeks to stop the termination of the pension plan. The PBGC said in court that it plans to implement its limits on Delphi pensions Feb. 1. Many retirees will see their pensions reduced when that happens.

Company plans to move 267 jobs to Ohio plants

DANVILLE, Ky. — A Cincinnati company plans to cut 200 jobs at a manufacturing plant in central Kentucky and shift the jobs to Ohio.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville reports that FKI Logistex notified workers and the state that the 200 jobs at the Danville plant will be eliminated as early as mid-February.

The Danville plant, which employs 222, makes conveyor and sorting equipment.

FKI was purchased this year by Intelligrated Inc., which is set to get $24 million in incentives from Ohio for creating 267 jobs at two plants near Cincinnati and one outside Columbus.
