POLAND
Dec. 15
Criminal mischief: A mailbox post was damaged in the 5100 block of Miller Road.
Assault: A student at Poland Seminary High School, 3199 Dobbins Road, reported another female student attacked the accuser in a hallway.
Dec. 17
Assault: A 17-year-old Poland Seminary High School boy said a fellow student grabbed him around the neck.
Dec. 18
Burglary: Two men claiming to offer home- improvement services entered a home in the 2200 block of Manor Avenue, and, when the homeowner was distracted, one of the men stole $25 worth of coins.
Dec. 19
Burglary: A report was filed from a residence in the 2000 block of Bedford Road. Stolen was a $189 jig saw.
Dec. 21
Theft: A man discovered a .22-caliber firearm missing from his mother’s Algonquin Drive residence.
BOARDMAN
Dec. 18
Arrest: Authorities booked 29-year-old Rebecca L. Gigax, 132 Cortland Drive, Campbell, on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after a township woman reported her 2000 Dodge had been taken without permission.
Theft: Charges were pending against four Youngstown males, 16, 18, 19 and 21, after the theft of $125 worth of merchandise from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.
Arrest: Officers responded to a loud-noise complaint at a Washington Boulevard residence, where they charged 26-year-old Joseph R. Gorak, 60 Washington, with obstructing official business. He refused several times to open the door for police, then initially refused to show proper identification, a report said.
Arrest: Police said they spoke with a woman for crossing outside a crosswalk near Indianola Road and Market Street, then charged Salimah Z. Elamin, 30, of 5021 Aravesta Ave., Boardman, with obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Elamin became agitated, yelled obscenities and struggled with officers as they tried to arrest her, a report showed.
Burglary: Took place in the 1200 block of Red Tail Hawk Drive.
Theft/damage: Ten landscaping lights were stolen or damaged at a home in the 100 block of Brainard Drive.
Burglary: To a residence in the 600 block of Saddlebrook Drive. Two flat-screen TVs were removed.
Dec. 19
Theft: Police charged Michael Zembillas, 53, of 7632 Franco Court, Boardman, with stealing about $38 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Misuse of a credit card: A Maple Drive woman discovered $1,498 worth of fraudulent purchases had been made with her debit card.
Criminal mischief: A Mathews Road man learned that someone had placed a “stop delivery” order on his mail without consent.
Criminal damaging: A window was damaged at a home in the 6900 block of Glendale Avenue.
Theft: Anthony R. Bowers, 19, of 837 Mabel Ave., Youngstown; Kayla Williams, 22, same address; and 34-year-old Norman L. Carter, of 5969 Oak St. Ext., Coitsville, were charged with stealing toys and clothing from Wal-Mart. Carter also faced a charge of carrying a concealed weapon when, police said, he threw away a set of brass knuckles before being apprehended.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle sustained $600 worth of damage to its roof at a Boardman-Poland Road store.
Attempted breaking and entering: A door to an office in the 100 block of DeBartolo Place was pried, apparently in an effort to enter.
Criminal damaging: A car at the Southern Park Mall had a total of $800 worth of damage to a rear window and hatch.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered D j vu Men’s Consignment Shop, 4927 Market St., via the front door before taking an undisclosed sum.
Burglary: Someone pushed open a faulty front door to a residence in the 1300 block of Red Tail Hawk Drive. Missing was a credit card.
Theft: Police charged 19-year-old Michael M. Patterson, 340 E. Auburndale Ave., Youngstown, in the theft of a $65 silver necklace from Sears in the Southern Park Mall. He also was wanted on a probation-violation count.
Dec. 20
Theft: Three men left Perkins Family Restaurant, 804 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying their $35 food bill.
Theft: A woman’s wallet was stolen while she was at a Westview Drive church.
Domestic violence: Struthers police handed 24-year-old Andrew B. Wichert, 28 Park Ave., Struthers, to Boardman authorities. Wichert was taken to the Mahoning County jail on a charge of domestic violence (threats) after his former girlfriend, of Boardman, had received an online message stating she would be killed, the police report said.
Dec. 21
Counterfeit: A phony $50 bill was passed at a Boardman-Canfield Road fast-food eatery.
Arrest: Ashley M. Medeiros, 20, of 1711 Olson Ave., Youngstown, was arrested in the 1200 block of Doral Drive on a probation-violation charge.
Theft: A $600 cell phone was stolen from Verizon Wireless, 474 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke a rear window, entered a building in the 5200 block of Market Street and took numerous hair-care products.
Theft: A security camera caught a man entering Chili’s Bar & Grill, 7403 Market St., and stealing an empty beer keg.
Theft/forgery: A Glenwood Avenue man reported two stolen checks and that one was cashed for $200 by someone who had forged his signature.
Misuse of a credit card: A worker for a Hillman Way bank told police a customer fraudulently used a credit card to make transactions, and that she owes $713.
Theft/damage: A car door was forced open in the 200 block of Shields Road. Taken were a 2-horsepower air compressor and a nail gun, for a $340 loss.
Theft: A man was arrested but released after three global positioning system units were stolen from Wal-Mart. The items were recovered, however.
Theft: A woman’s prescription slip was removed from a vehicle in the 7300 block of Oregon Trail.
Theft/drugs: Tiffany L. Sandrock, 24, of 3356 Fremont Ave., Youngstown, was charged, accused of stealing a $24 T-shirt from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall. Sandrock also faced a felony count of possession of dangerous drugs when, authorities said, three tablets and five pieces of another were in her purse.
Robbery: Authorities charged Eileen P. Pope, 58, of 7470 Salinas Trail, Boardman, with robbery and possession of criminal tools after food and a DVD had been stolen from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road. During a struggle, Pope tried to bite store personnel who attempted to detain her, and she had a small cutting tool in her pocket, police said.
Dec. 22
Breaking and entering: A hammer was used to smash a front window at Ianazone’s Pizza, 7271 West Blvd. A cash-register drawer was found on a counter, though it appeared all of the money was intact.
Drugs: A traffic stop near South Avenue resulted in charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana against 30-year-old Randy L. Shardy, 6008 Lakeview Drive, Hubbard, after officers said they found suspected marijuana seeds in the car, as well as pieces of suspected marijuana, a bag containing a small quantity of the drug and a suspected marijuana pipe.
