Green Bay pulls away from YSU in 2nd half

The Phoenix are 3-0 in the Horizon League after the 75-67 win.

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Rahmon Fletcher scored 28 points in 28 minutes on Saturday to lead Wisconsin-Green Bay past Youngstown State, 75-67, in a Horizon League game.

Bryquis Perine scored 15 points for the Phoenix (10-3, 3-0 Horizon), and Randy Berry had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Fletcher made four of his six 3-point attempts and was 10-for-13 from the free-throw line.

Vytas Sulskis scored 17 points to lead the Penguins (4-6, 0-3), while Zack Rebillot added a career-high 10 off the bench.

Youngstown State’s reserves outscored Wisconsin-Green Bay’s 28-9, and the Penguins held a 30-18 edge in points in the paint, but it wasn’t enough.

The Phoenix’s eight-point lead at the end was the largest lead of the game. Youngstown State led 32-29 at halftime.

The Phoenix shot 55 percent in the second half and made 20-of-25 free-throw attempts after halftime, meanwhile the Penguins attempted just 19 free throws for the entire game.

The Phoenix began the second half with a 12-5 run to take a 41-37 lead with 16:33 to go after a jumper by Fletcher, who scored 23 points in the second half.

The Penguins return home to host High Point on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. at Beeghly Center.
