Tips for Caring for Your Christmas Tree:

DO make a fresh cut about 1/2 inch above the base of your tree after getting it home.

DO place your tree in a stand that holds plenty of water and keep it filled.

DO recycle your tree after the holidays. Local drop-off points are the Canfield Township Fire Station, 5007 Messerly Road, and the Poland Township Road Department, 7508 Clingan Road. Trees will be taken from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Jan. 31.

DON’T worry about the temperature of the water used in your tree stand, as it does not affect water uptake.

DON’T burn any part of a Chirstmas tree in a wood stove.
