Stagg Bowl delayed until 4 p.m.

Due to heavy snowfall in the Salem-Roanoke area, the 2009 Division III Football Championship game, the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl between #1 Mount Union and #2 Wisconsin-Whitewater has been delayed until 4:00 p.m. The game will now be televised live on ESPN Classic, as well as the Internet feed on ESPN360.

Snow began falling in Southern Virginia at approximately 2:30 pm Friday and is continued into Saturday morning. Official snowfall totals in Roanoke as of 7 a.m. placed accumulation at 16 inches. It is the largest single storm in Roanoke since 1996 when nearly two feet of snow fell over a two-day period (1/6-1/7/96). It is predicted that by the end of the storm late Saturday that upwards of 20 inches of snow will be on the ground.

Earlier on Friday, Mount Union College had cancelled an overnight fan bus and a bus carrying its band and dance team to the game.
