11Since joining the Federal League two seasons ago, the boys’ team has won both league crowns while the girls, second two seasons ago, walked off with the league’s top honors last season.

“With our varsity and junior varsity bowling at the same time, all four teams are in continuous motion so I rely on my assistant coaches for much needed help.

“On the boys’ side, Brian Umstead and Kevin Randolph are invaluable, while on the girls’ side, my brother, Michael, son John, a former Spartan and current YSU team member, and Chris Tiberio have lent plenty of help and direction,” Dohar said.

On the girls’ side, seven letterwinners return to a team that finished fourth in the state a season ago and with 17 team members, including nine junior varsity hopefuls, Dohar is reloading — not rebuilding.

Senior Ciarra Moran, who placed third in the state last year, is one of the top bowlers in the state and classmates Amanda Van Fossan, Angela Kaczowka and Rachel Dugan all came to Dohar together and will exit as four-year letterwinners.

Juniors Tiffany Dugan, Tiffany Hefron and Tiffany Terlecki and sophomore Becca Babnic are big reasons that the team finished fourth out of 28 teams at the recent Kick-Off Classic in Columbus.

For the boys, three letterwinners return. They include seniors Troy Wilson and Tyler Hupp and sophomore Jimmy Tancabel, with senior Ryan Candella, juniors Alec Higham and Christo Wallace, sophomore Jake Stauffer and freshman Robbie Childs hoping to kick their games up a notch and pick up where last year’s league champions left off.
