Nonprofit corporation will search for money to help Youngstown 'go green'

A nonprofit corporation says it will search for foundation money and federal grants as part of an attempt to put Youngstown on the forefront of the “green revolution.”

Matt Petersen, president of California-based Global Green USA, said the company will assist in strategic planning efforts that started with the city’s Youngstown 2010 plan.

Specific outcomes haven’t been determined, but the company and local officials will look at areas such as creating urban agriculture, more energy-efficient schools and businesses that are experts in energy fields, he said.
