Lutheran Women’s League receives award
POLAND
At the annual meeting of Shepherd of the Valley on Nov. 16 at the Poland facility on Western Reserve Road, the Lutheran Women’s League became the second recipient of the Helen R. Stambaugh Award.
The award recognizes those who have provided extraordinary contributions of time, talent and/or treasures to residents, staff and communities of Shepherd of the Valley.
It honors individuals, businesses or organizations that have had a profound and long-lasting impact on Shepherd of the Valley and its constituencies.
Early in 1972, the Lutheran Women’s League recognized that providing a home for the area’s elderly was an extensive venture that required significant financial backing, and it presented a check for $10,000 to the original Shepherd Board of Managers. The check represented 32 years of gifts and bequests from members of the league.
