St. Rose troop mothers selling Christmas cookies
GIRARD — The St. Rose Girl Scout Troop 418 mothers are making assorted ready-to-serve trays of Christmas cookies for sale for the holidays.
Assortments include: chocolate chip, Hershey’s Kiss, peanut butter crisscross, M&M, sugar, snowball, oatmeal, butter press, chocolate covered pretzels, buckeyes, nut clusters and peanut butter fudge.

Three dozen cookies cost $10; six dozen cost $20; 9 dozen cost $30 and 12 dozen cost $40.
Applebee’s sponsoring benefit for patient
NILES — Applebee’s, 904 Great East Plaza, is sponsoring a Dine to Donate dinner as a benefit for Eric Pirtz, a junior majoring in physical therapy at Ashland University, who has been in a coma since a Sept. 4 car accident.
The dinner will be from 11 a.m. until closing on Monday. Customers must present a flier when ordering, and 10 percent of the bill will be donated to his recovery fund.

Community Center schedules two events
SALEM — Salem Community Center will have a Breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The meal will be served by The Catered Affair, and children will do a holiday craft and receive a photo taken with Santa.
The cost for members is $8 for adults, and $7 for children. For nonmembers, the cost for adults is $9, and children, $8. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Also on Saturday the center will host the 37th annual Elks “Hoop Shoot” at 1:30 p.m.
The free-throw shooting contest is for youngsters 8 through 13 years of age. The contest is open and free to the public.

Support group to focus on proper nutrition
HERMITAGE, Pa. — The Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Self-Help Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Founder’s Room of Notre Dame Church, 2325 Highland Road.
The speaker will be Steve Horvat, a certified culinarian, personal fitness trainer, nutritional specialist and the executive chef at the Rosetta Stone in Youngstown.
He will discuss healthy cooking, proper nutrition, self-esteem and the negative effect of binge eating and eating disorders.
