Girard house fire believed electrical in nature

Monday, August 31, 2009

GIRARD — Firefighters extinguished a house fire at about 10:30 a.m. Monday, but nobody was hurt or seriously injured.

The fire at 312 Idaho Road was confined to a back bedroom, but smoke and heat did damage to the rest of the house, said Capt. Tim Britt, adding that the renters were in the process of moving out.

“The whole house was pretty much trashed inside,” Britt said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, but Britt said it has been narrowed to electrical wires underneath a bed.

Britt said that two fire trucks were on the scene for about an hour and 45 minutes.
