OSHP seizes nearly 6 kilos of cocaine in Lucas County traffic stop

TOLEDO — A Riverside, Calif., man will be arraigned this morning in Lucas County Court on felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized nearly 6 kilos of cocaine, valued at more than $850,000, during a traffic stop Tuesday on the Ohio Turnpike in Lucas County.

Eriberto Zamora, 19, was charged with possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs, both first-degree felonies, and possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.

Troopers stopped a 1996 Ford F-150, with Illinois registration, for a marked lanes violation, on the turnpike near milepost 55 at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Troopers observed criminal indicators, and a patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 5.7 kilos of cocaine.

The suspect was incarcerated in the Lucas County Jail. If convicted, he could face up to 21 years in prison and a $42,500 fine.
