Northwestern Pa. teen identified as accidential shooting victim
WARREN, Pa. (AP) — A coroner has identified a 16-year-old boy who authorities believe was accidentally shot by a friend who didn’t realize a shotgun was loaded.
Warren County Coroner Jerry Borden says the victim in Saturday night’s shooting is Travis Barnett of Sugar Grove.
Warren police are still investigating the shooting, though police Chief Raymond Zydonik says criminal charges are unlikely against the shooter, a 16-year-old friend of the victim.
Police aren’t releasing that boy’s name but say he didn’t know the shotgun was loaded when he picked up the weapon.
Barnett was a student at Eisenhower High School.
