A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman:

Aug. 13

Burglary: Someone forced open a window to a Mathews Road apartment, then stole several thousand dollars’ worth of jewelry and a digital camera.

Assault: A man told police two juveniles shot air guns at him while the accuser was at his Sable Court home. He was not hurt, however.

Stolen property: A 15-year-old township boy surrendered to police and was charged with receiving stolen property after several people found that their vehicles had been entered near Red Grouse Drive and property, including a laptop computer and a radar detector, were missing.

Theft: Several women in their 20s stole clothing from PCX Store Co., 1200 Doral Drive.

Theft: A $300 MP3 player was taken from a car in the 7400 block of Market Street.

Assault: A Youngstown man, 38, was charged after a man visiting a friend at her South Schenley Avenue residence reported being struck in the head. The accuser was disoriented and complained of dizziness.

Theft: Three hundred compact discs and other property were removed from two vehicles in the 7400 block of Huntington Drive.

Theft: A township woman’s wallet was stolen while she was at a church off of U.S. Route 224.

Burglary: To a garage in the 700 block of Ridgefield Drive, from which a $200 leaf vacuum/chipper was stolen.

Theft: A city man, 29, surrendered to authorities on a felony charge. In July, a township woman reported a $10,000 gold diamond ring missing from her car.

Theft/damage: Someone broke into a vehicle on Lake Park Road before stealing a stereo and two speakers.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 7400 block of Oregon Trail had a rear window broken and a front window cracked.

Theft: A woman’s wallet and checkbook were missing from her car in the 5900 block of Glenwood Avenue.

Weapons/drugs: A traffic stop on Mathews Road led to the arrest of a 28-year-old Boardman man on two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and one each of being a convicted felon with a firearm, trafficking in drugs and possession of crack cocaine. Found were a loaded 9 mm pistol, a knife, a bag with eight smaller bags of suspected marijuana and a bag containing 4 grams of suspected crack cocaine, police said.

Theft: A woman’s wallet containing numerous credit cards was stolen at the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A wallet, $180 and two credit cards were removed from a car in the 7600 block of Huntington Drive.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Salem man told officers his son-in-law and another person took the accuser’s 2003 Ford F-150 truck from a California Avenue doctor’s office without permission.

Aug. 14

Theft: A Struthers woman, 18, faced a felony count after $855 worth of jewelry was stolen from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: An $8,000 camera system was removed from a Simon Road business.

Theft: A man reported the theft of two nail guns and an air compressor from his Applecrest Court home.

Fraud: A Boardman woman reported that after answering an online request, she was sent five $650 money orders. As she attempted to cash them at her bank, however, she was informed that the orders were counterfeit.

Theft: An $800 laptop computer was stolen from a vehicle in the 8100 block of Hitchcock Road.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 3900 block of South Schenley Avenue was scratched and punched.

Drugs: Officers investigated possible drug activity at a Wolcott Drive residence, where they charged a man, 30, with possession of drug-abuse instruments, drug paraphernalia and dangerous drugs. A suspected marijuana plant and two metal spoons with suspected drug residue were discovered, police said. Also, the man admitted a bag in his bedroom contained marijuana, a report showed.

Menacing: A Pearson Circle woman alleged a neighbor threatened her after she confronted him, saying that paper towels he had dropped were littering the yard, a report said.

Aug. 15

Drugs: A 23-year-old Boardman man was charged with possession of dangerous drugs and drug-abuse instruments after being pulled over on Glenwood Avenue. Six pills and four hypodermic needles were found, a report said.

Auto theft: A Poland man’s 2005 Kia Spectra was stolen while he patronized a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Drugs: Authorities responded to a burglary at a Centervale Avenue residence, where they charged a 20-year-old township man with trafficking in drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia and dangerous drugs when, they said, suspected marijuana packaged for sale and other contraband was in the home.

Theft/misuse of a credit card: Clothing, medications, food and toiletries were among the items stolen from a Market Street apartment, as well as a credit card on which was a $25 unauthorized charge.

Criminal damaging: Someone used a key to damage a vehicle’s hood and driver’s side in the 1500 block of Sequoya Drive. Damage was estimated between $1,500 and $2,000.

Theft: An undisclosed amount of money was missing from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road, after a woman fraudulently returned several items she had failed to pay for.

Aug. 16

Arrest: Authorities went to Mahoning County Court No. 2 on Boardman-Canfield Road and served a warrant to a 36-year-old township man, charging him with vehicular manslaughter, a second-degree misdemeanor. He was booked at the county jail.

Domestic violence: A 19-year-old man was taken into custody at his township residence and charged after his mother alleged the teen grabbed her arms and wrists during an argument about her having taken a set of car keys.

Criminal damaging: A car’s rear window was smashed in the 4200 block of Hillman Way.
