Youngstown couple jailed on charges stemming from weekend shooting

YOUNGSTOWN — A city couple is in Mahoning County jail on a combined $1.25 million bond for charges stemming from a weekend shooting.

Isiah Weatherspoon, 19, of Hilton Avenue, was arraigned today before Judge Robert Douglas by video on felony charges of assault and child endangering. The judge appointed an attorney for Weatherspoon and set bail at $1 million.

Isha Butler, 19, of Hylda Avenue, also was video arraigned before the judge on charges of complicity to felonious assault and child endangering. Her bond was set at $250,000, and the judge ordered her to wear an electronic monitoring device should she post bond.

According to police reports, Weatherspoon and Butler, who are dating, along with Butler’s 3-year-old child drove to the Lucius Avenue home of another man with whom Butler has a child Saturday afternoon. Weatherspoon, reports said, wanted to confront the father of Butler’s child.

Police said the two men exchanged some words while the Lucius Avenue man’s mother attempted to end the confrontation. Butler and Weatherspoon started to leave the residence, but Weatherspoon, once inside the car, fired several shots at the Lucius Avenue home.
