Firefighter slightly injured in battling West Side fire
YOUNGSTOWN — Officials are still investigating the cause of a late Friday fire that sent one firefighter to the hospital. Firefighters were called to a vacant home at 144 Silliman St. just before 9 p.m. for a fire in the attic.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire in about 45 minutes, but Lt. William Pollock tripped over a hose and fell. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center as a precaution. The fire caused about $20,000 in damage to the house.
