Road tour carpool to Pa. greenhouse
CORTLAND — “Come Along With Us,” a road tour, will carpool from the Trumbull County Agricultural and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St., on May 21 and travel to DJ’s Greenhouse, 1004 E. Lake Road, Transfer, Pa. The group will leave at 9 a.m.
Home, yard and garden programs are open to the public, said Kathleen Ferris, program chairwoman. A two-hour program will be at the greenhouse from 10 a.m. to noon.
Now in the 26th year, DJ’s display gardens are spread throughout the property, which is filled with hundreds of perennials as well as assorted conifers, Japanese maples and other exotic plants.
They carry more than 160 different types of hosta as well as many other shade-loving plants. A full line of new annuals and perennials for 2009 and many old favorites await at the end of the 40-minute drive to the greenhouse.
