Jaworski to speak at ‘Champions Among Us’ dinner
YOUNGSTOWN — The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley will welcome former YSU and NFL quarterback Ron Jaworski back to Youngstown.
Jaworski, who is a broadcaster for ESPN’s Monday Night Football, will be the keynote speaker for the annual “Champions Among Us” dinner on June 4th at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a meet and greet with Jaworski followed by the dinner and program at 6:30 p.m. The evening will conclude with a live auction.
“I always look for a good reason to return to Youngstown and see many friends,” said Jaworski. “I have been a supporter of the United Way going back to my playing days in the NFL. I consider it an honor that they want me to be part of their Champions dinner.”
The United Way will also honor former Ursuline quarterback Daryll Clark, who led Penn State to the Big Ten title and a berth in the Rose Bowl. Middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik will also be part of the festivities.
Champions Among Us is the United Way’s largest fundraiser. Sponsorship opportunities include a dinner package, which costs $400 and includes dinner for eight with reserved seating, meet and greet with Jaworski, and a half-page ad in the program book. Individual tickets are available for $50 each.
The 20th Annual United Way Golf Outing will be held the following day at Kennsington Golf Club in Canfield. Golf foursomes are available for $400 and include a cart, locker room privileges, driving range, continental breakfast and lunch with presentation of prizes and awards.
