Two plead guilty in Warren man’s beating

NEWTON FALLS — Two of the three men involved in the beating of a Warren man April 15 have pleaded guilty to reduced charges and will spend between 40 and 180 days in jail.
Police said three men assaulted Tracy L. Mathews, 20, of Warren at about 11:45 p.m. in the 600 block of North Canal Street, apparently over allegations that Mathews had hit his girlfriend earlier in the evening.
The three men accused of assaulting Mathews appeared in Newton Falls Municipal Court.
Raymond S. Parrish, 21, West Main Street, Newton Falls, pleaded guilty to assault and falsification, both first degree misdemeanors. He received a jail sentence of six months and fines totaling $350.
Keith A. Watson Jr., 22, Oak Knoll Avenue, Newton Falls, pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to 40 days in jail, ordered to pay a $100 fine and put on probation for a year.
A third man, Joshua J. Heilman, 20, Newton Drive, Newton Falls, is charged with felonious assault and will return to municipal court at 9 a.m. May 28 for another hearing.
