May Friendship Day

BOARDMAN — Church Women United will have May Friendship Day on May 2 at St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. and the program at 10. There will be three offerings: the Least Coin, which is a collection of pennies that benefits women around the world; in-kind gathering of blankets for Church World Service; and the regular offering. Shirley Megown is CWU president.

“Building On Our Stories” is the theme and is based on Joshua 4:1-9 about the people of Israel crossing the Jordan River into the Promised Land.

Teen Straight Talk

BOARDMAN — A Teen Straight Talk presentation will be at 4 p.m. May 3 at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive. Teen Straight Talk is a nationally recognized program dedicated to reducing teen pregnancies.

The free program is geared for young people from seventh grade through seniors, their parents and friends. The session will focus on the dangers of risky sexual behaviors and about God’s plan for human sexuality. There will be medical slides of people with STDs and the program is not appropriate for younger children.

Guest speakers

SARASOTA, FLA. — Tee and Trish Ross will be the featured speakers today for the Gospel Crusade Ministerial Fellowship, an international organization, at Troyers Dutch Heritage Restaurant. Before moving to Florida, Tee Ross operated Tee Ross Music in Struthers, where he taught thousands of accordion students.

The Rosses recently attended Youngstown Day in Sarasota for alumni and friends of Youngstown Sate University.

Motorcycle blessing

CANFIELD — The third annual motorcycle blessing event will start at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Canfield Fairgrounds. The Teamster Horsemen and other motorcycle groups will meet Youngstown riders at the fairgrounds and ride into Windham. There, a blessing of riders will take place about noon at St. Michael Church in Windham, where parishioners will provide a picnic.

Healing service

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A divine healing service with Dr. Paul C. Paino, general overseer of Calvary Ministries International, Fort Wayne, Ind., is planned for 6 p.m. Sunday at Epworth United Methodist Church, 805 E. Washington St., where services are being held.

Art retreat

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will offer “Art Retreat: Clay – A Way of Exploring One’s Relationship with God, Self and Others!” from May 21-24.

The presenter will be Sister Paulette Kirschensteiner, who will explore art as a resource for listening to God’s presence within us. She is a nationally exhibited artist with a master of fiber arts degree.

Registration and deposit of $50 is requested by Thursday. Program cost is $265 and includes overnight accommodations, materials and meals. A commuter rate of $155 is available. Advance registration is required. The program will be on the grounds of Villa Maria Community Center. Revival services

YOUNGSTOWN — Cornersburg Baptist Church, 3898 Tippecanoe Road, will have revival services at 11 a.m. Sunday and 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. A men’s breakfast will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Guest speaker for the events will be Tony Davis.

Choir musical

YOUNGSTOWN — The senior choir at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave., will have its annual musical at 4 p.m. Sunday with guest choirs from the city. The Rev. J.W. Pettis is pastor.

Women’s conference

YOUNGSTOWN — Sharyle Marcy, wife of Pastor Gary Marcy of Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., is coordinating arrangements for a Women of Faith conference, “A Grand New Day,” on July 17 and 18 in Cleveland. Inspirational speakers will be featured.
