Area students to compete in SkillsUSA event


CANFIELD — Six Mahoning County Career and Technical Center students and five Choffin Career and Technical Center students earned the right to compete in the state SkillsUSA event this weekend in Columbus.

The students took top prizes in the recent SkillsUSA Regional Competition.

Medal winners from MCCTC advancing to state are:

UDanielle Hobbs of Boardman: silver medal in Nail Care.

USteve Hunt of Canfield: silver medal in CNC Milling.

UJaymie Ruby of Western Reserve: bronze medal in Nurse Assisting.

UNicole Ruiz of Jackson Milton: silver medal in Job Skill Demo Open.

UJustin Storm of Crestview: bronze medal in Industrial Motor Control.

UAshley Vera of Struthers: gold medal in Graphic Communications.

SkillsUSA is a formed partnership between students, teachers and industry leaders working together to build the country’s skilled work force.
