F.N.B. reports earnings of $14.3M in 1st quarter

HERMITAGE, Pa. — F.N.B. Corp. earned $14.3 million in the first quarter, compared with $16.5 million in the same quarter of last year. F.N.B. is the parent company of First National Bank of Pennsylvania.

The company said its Pennsylvania loan portfolio totaled $5.3 billion at March 31, or 92 percent of its total loan portfolio, and stood in good credit quality. F.N.B. charged off $2.3 million in bad loans in that portfolio in the quarter.

Its Florida loan portfolio totaled $302 million at March 31, or 5 percent of the total loan portfolio, and continued to show weakness. It charged off $8.2 million in bad loans from that portfolio in the quarter.

Freddie Mac: 30-year mortgage rates fall a little

WASHINGTON — Rates on 30-year mortgages fell slightly from last week but remained just ahead of record lows posted this month, Freddie Mac said Thursday.

Average rates on 30-year fixed mortgages dipped to 4.8 percent from 4.82 percent last week, Freddie Mac said. Last year at this time, the average rate on a 30-year mortgage was 6.03 percent, and it has been below 5 percent for six straight weeks.

Freddie Mac also said the average rate on a 15-year fixed-rate mortgage was 4.48 percent this week, unchanged from last week.
