Flag-raising ceremony for drive-by shooting victim is today in Warren
WARREN — The Trumbull County victim’s flag will be raised at 1:30 p.m. today in front of the county jail on High Street in memory of 11-year-old Lloyd McCoy Jr., who was killed in a drive-by shooting on Wick Street Southeast on April 13.
The flag is raised any time a county child is killed because of violence.
The Willard School sixth-grader was visiting a relative at a house across the street from his own when around 30 bullets from a high-powered firearm ripped through the front of the one-story home, hitting him as he sat on the living room couch.
His 3-year-old nephew also was hit in the shoulder by a bullet and is recovering, and 26-year-old Marvin J. Chaney was killed.
So far, police have made one arrest: Marcus L. Yager, 22, of Vine Street, who is in county jail, charged with two counts of complicity to murder.
