A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

April 16

Theft of services: The owner of a business in the 100 block of East Liberty Street reported a nearby resident had illegally dumped garbage into her trash bin.

Possible fraud: A township man reported a possible cell-phone scam.

April 17

Theft: A man reported property missing from outside his former Mock Street residence.

Arrest: Girard Municipal Court issued a warrant against a Hubbard woman charging her with theft and possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.

April 19

Criminal damaging: A man in the 500 block of Caroline Avenue discovered damage to glass enclosing his electric meter.

Breaking and entering: A worker for Al’s Pub & Grill, 517 N. Main St., noticed a break-in.

Criminal damaging: An Erie Street woman reported a broken window on her brother’s van.

April 20

Recovered property: A Fifth Street man found two bottles of prescription medication in his yard.

LIBERTY

April 16

Assault: A 14-year-old Girard boy reported having been jumped and punched near state Route 304. He had a minor injury.

Theft: A man discovered a $900 utility trailer and assorted lumber stolen from his home in the 1400 block of Sunny Drive.

Identity theft: An Aurora Circle woman found out someone had obtained her personal information to order a subscription to three phone services. Her loss came to about $39.

Theft: A global positioning system device was removed from a delivery truck belonging to a Middle Drive business.

Domestic violence: Police charged a Girard man, 49, with domestic violence and violating a protection order after officers responded to the 100 block of Laurel Street regarding an unwanted person. The man’s former wife played phone messages in which he had threatened to kill her and anyone she might be with, a report showed.

Theft: A North Jackson woman’s purse was taken from her vehicle in the 1300 block of Shannon Avenue.

Citation: Police cited a 51-year-old McDonald man on a charge of disorderly conduct while intoxicated after officers responded to an unwanted person at a home in the 500 block of Ventura Drive. The homeowner said she had found the man passed out on her front porch.

Thefts: Three GPS devices were removed from vehicles in the 400 block of Seacrist Lane.

Theft: A woman reported $900 worth of property, including jewelry and DVDs, missing from the Marla Lane residence she recently moved to.

April 17

Arrest: Police said they saw someone urinating next to a trash bin in the 3000 block of Belmont Avenue, where they discovered the 48-year-old Youngstown man also was wanted on a warrant. He was given a summons charging him with disorderly conduct.

Bad check: A female wrote a $46.65 check to have two vehicles washed at Big John’s Brushless Car Wash, 3657 Belmont Ave. The check was later determined to have originated from a closed account.

Assault: Two pupils were in a fight at W.S. Guy Middle School, 4115 Shady Road. One boy said he had been grabbed by the chest from behind; the other reported having been struck and kicked.

Burglary: A man noticed someone had entered his Trumbull Court apartment. Stolen was a small safe containing a 9 mm handgun, 15 rounds of ammunition, money and personal papers.

April 18

Drugs: Police charged a 25-year-old Brookfield man with possession of marijuana after having been pulled over on a traffic stop on Belmont Avenue. A bag of suspected marijuana was found, police said.

April 19

Arrest: An 18-year-old Youngstown man faced a charge of failing to comply with police when, authorities said, a driver refused to pull over for speeding. Instead, the teen ran a red light and led officers on a vehicular pursuit, a report said.

Recovered property: A Youngstown woman found her 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera after having reported it stolen near Frederick Street.

GIRARD

April 18

Criminal mischief: A man said he saw someone in a white Dodge minivan drive across a front lawn in the 500 block of Mosier Road.

Theft: A vehicle’s rear license plate was removed in the 400 block of Iowa Avenue.

Assault: Two boys reported a third boy assaulted them as they walked on Crumlin Avenue. The third boy accused the other two of having tossed eggs at his residence, a report showed.

April 19

Menacing: An Iowa Avenue woman reported another woman came to the accuser’s home, made threats and shouted vulgarities regarding the accuser’s grandson.

Assault: An 8-year-old boy near an East Liberty Street business told officers another boy grabbed his right arm and held a pocketknife. The accuser pulled away and received a minor scratch from the knife, a report said.

Criminal mischief: Two male juveniles were charged after authorities got a report of someone spray-painting stop signs and sidewalks near Highland and Wilson avenues.

Damage: A stick was used to break a window to a residence in the 500 block of South Davis Street.

Criminal mischief: A worker for a U.S. Route 422 store found a dent in the right rear section of her car.

April 20

Assault: A boy, no information given, was charged and released to his mother’s custody after a woman told authorities the boy had assaulted her 10-year-old son near Liberty Street. The boy said he was pushed off his bicycle and punched five times in the chest.

Menacing: A West Second Street woman accused her former boyfriend of engaging in a pattern of harassment, including threats against her and her property.

April 21

Theft: A student at Girard High School, 31 N. Ward Ave., reported a cell phone missing from his gym bag.
