YSU men’s basketball team hands out awards

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown State men’s basketball program recognized several outstanding individual accomplishments at its annual postseason awards banquet Sunday at the Ohio Room in Kilcawley Center.

Junior DeAndre Mays was recognized for being named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team and garnered the Assists Leader Award after averaging 3.5 assists per game.

Senior Jack Liles received the Coach Dom Rosselli Coaches Award, sophomore Vytas Sulskis collected the Four Square Scholar-Athlete Award with a 3.21 grade-point average, Zack Rebillot was the recipient of the Tony Vivo Hustle Award and sophomore Tom Parks was named the Penguin Club Most Improved Player.

Sophomore Vance Cooksey earned the Free-Throw Percentage Award after leading the team with a .760 free-throw percentage.

Junior Sirlester Martin earned the Leo Mogus Leading Rebounder Award after ranking second in the Horizon League with 7.3 rebounds per game.

The Penguins finished the season with an 11-19 record, including 7-11 in the Horizon League.
